Two men charged in Williams Lake homicide

WILLIAMS LAKE — According to a press release from the Williams Lake RCMP two men are being charged in a homicide case.
On May 5, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Williams Lake Mounties, attended a fatal stabbing death.
19 year old Richard Richie
Todd was found critically injured and died in hospital from his injuries.
The North District Major Crime Unit took conduct of the investigation and worked tirelessly with Williams Lake RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service on the investigation.
On May 3rd, 2024, 26 year old Michael Bauer and 25 year old Garrett Shirey were arrested and charged with manslaughter in the 2022 death of Richard Richie
Todd.
Bauer was arrested in Williams Lake and Shirey was arrested in Houston, BC.
Both Bauer and Shirey remain in custody and will be appearing virtually in Williams Lake Court on Monday, May 6th, 2024.
This was a thorough investigation spanning over two years and it shows our investigators’ determination to seek out the truth, said Cpl. Brett Urano, spokesperson for the BC RCMP.
