Fire West of Merritt being held by BC Wildfire Service

MERRITT โ For those keeping up with the small fire west of Merritt it is now being held by firefighting crews.
Being held means it is not likely to spread beyond predetermined boundaries under current conditions.
The fire took place by Speous 8 just west Petit Creek Rd by Canford and the Sunshine Valley.
Most fires in B-C have started in the North region of the province particularly northeast of Prince George.

The fire 16 km west of Merritt is no longer considered out of control and is now being held by BC Wildfire Crews as of 6:00 a.m Thursday, April 4th (2024)
The fire was 3.3 hectares in size and there were 16 personnel on site and a water tender, according to Twitter.
Crews on site will continue to monitor the areas where direct suppression tactics are unsafe.
