Merritt Centennials bolster center depth with addition of Jimmy Lyver
MERRITT — Wheelin’ and Dealin’ Centennials Head Coach Brian Passmore isn’t done yet.
The Cents have bolstered their center depth with the addition of another young player that will help build towards next season’s group of players.
Passmore has already hinted at 12-13 players returning and adding another young player only adds to the build up towards the 2024/25 season.
This season was a bit of a mad scramble with Passmore having to sign almost a completely new roster for the Centennials when he was hired in the off season.
After cuts, trades, signings it seems the Centennials are finally starting to narrow down a vision of what kind of team will return to Merritt next season, which helps players get a lot more comfortable in their roles before returning next year.
The Merritt Centennials acquired 2005 born forward Jimmy Lyver from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in exchange for future considerations.
Lyver is committed to Holy Cross NCAA division 1 adding to the number of committed players on the team.
Passmore has mentioned in the past that the more committed players that play here the more that entices players to want to sign in Merritt.
The Centennials haven’t always had that luxury in the past so it’s all part of the master plan.
Passmore says “We are pleased to welcome Jimmy Lyver to our team.”
“Jimmy is a smart two way player that gets to the dirty areas and he is a player that will thrive with opportunity here in Merritt.”
“Jimmy is a responsible player and can be relied on in defensive situations. We would like to extend a warm welcome to Jimmy and his family to the Centennials organization.”
