MERRITT, Nlaka’pamux Nation – On Thursday, January 25th 2024 the Merritt based Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly (CNA) received a $100,000 donation from TELUS and CIBC to provide tablets and laptops to the CNA community.
The donation involves the Shackan, Ashcroft, Siska, Nicomen, Cook’s Ferry, Boston Bar, Coldwater and Nooaitch Indian Bands
The new technology means band members and their families will be more connected in a world that is going more digital.
This will also help members enjoy the benefits of TELUS high-speed internet connecting their communities.
The move will help support educational and career aspirations, ensure virtual social and health services, help maintain community connections and advance the long-term prosperity of their communities.
The donation helps youth research their assignments and sharpen their digital skills, Elders will be able to see their grandchildren through virtual meetings, and CNA members can participate in virtual meetings and events.
The move brings communities closer together even if they live far apart nestled across British Columbia’s vast Interior.
