MERRITT — The Centennials have been wheeling and dealing ahead of their weekend of three games in three days.
The Cents have traded 2003 born defenceman Ranvir Gill Shane to the Victoria Grizzlies in exchange for 2005 born forward Patrick Murphy.
Murphy is commited to Brown University and has 7 goals and 2 assists in 23 games with Victoria, he also adds youth to a Centennials lineup that is one of the older rosters in the league.
The Cents are rumored to have more trades coming, they play Friday at home against Cranbrook at 7 p.m. play in Salmon Arm Saturday at 6 p.m. then play in West Kelowna Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Gill-Shane had 0 goals and 11 assists in 28 games with Merritt this season and was added from the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.
He joined Charles-Thomas Larochelle as one of the two Major Junior players on the Centennials roster.
Meanwhile much like the recent signing of Kelowna born goaltender Dylan Adams, Patrick Murphy is an 18 year old that can grow and build into the Centennials system.
Murphy had a hot start to the season for a 2005 born player with 6 goals in his first 13 games.
The Cents could use the depth at forward after losing fan-favorite and Assistant Captain Ryan Spinale.
Losing a point-per-game player like Spinale has definately contributed to the Centennials falling off from their earlier season success with seven losses in their last nine games.
The depth at forward helps fill the offensive void.
After the Centennials three in three weekend they head home for the All-Star break and then resume play with a four game home stand.
