Merritt Construction Update: Voght Street Closure and Detour

MERRITT — Merrittonians driving through the Voght street construction in front of the RCMP office will have to use a detour while underground work commences.

A full detour is expected for four days starting at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, November 7 until 5:00PM on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be diverted north along Parker Drive and Juniper Drive.

This full detour is required to complete as much earthworks as possible before the ground freezes. As the temperature shifts towards more wintery conditions the urgency to complete the project rises. Patience from Merrittonians has been appreciated as no issues have arisen from the alternating lanes of traffic that have flown through so far.

The detour will also provide more time for construction workers to work on the roads without dealing with oncoming traffic.

As drivers take the alternate routes they are encouraged to pay close attention to the speed signs, unpredictable turns and children that may be getting off school or walking home.
