New dog park opens up in Merritt
MERRITT – The furry, four legged residents of Merritt have a new park opening today (August 30).
The City of Merritt has finalized construction of a new fully-funded, 2000-square metre dog park area in Voght Park.
“The new dog park includes separate run areas for large and small dogs, surrounded with black chain-link fencing and secure gated entrances,” said the City of Merritt. “The Dog Park includes a dog water drinking fountain, picnic tables, and will soon include tree plantings inside and outside the dog park area.”
As this new park opens, City officials said the temporary dog area in Colletville will close, as they don’t have permission to continue that type of usage in the area.
“The City will continue to apply for funding for different parks and recreational opportunities, including dog parks located in other areas of town.”
