“I’m incredibly happy. It feels amazing, amazing to see the festival go on sale,” said Organizer Kenny Hess.
After two years of cancellations due to COVID-19 restrictions, Rockin’ River returns to the Nicola Valley this Summer, headlined by Tim McGraw and Darius Rucker.
Hess joined Q101 after the lineup announcement to discuss his though process of putting together the group of artists to come to Merritt in July.
“What can you say about Tim McGraw, last time he was in Merritt he brough 36,000 fans with him. And then Darius Rucker, has that wonderful crossover country feel to him,” said Hess.
“I think it’s the best lineup we’ve ever had. I know I’ve said that before. When I was booking everybody, I took a look and I thought, lets appeal to everyone,” began Hess. “We got some great young acts like HARDY who is just killing it and they’re amazing, along with guys like Kip Moore, so they a nice young crowd. Then we went after some of the great superstars.”
Hess reiterated that he build the lineup to hit all ages and fans up and down the card.
“It should be a perfectly normal festival. I’m fully ready and prepared for a full-house. The crowd is going to enjoy it, the lineup is stellar and is going to draw a lot of people back into Merritt who really deserves it this year. We hope we can do something to bring some of the spirit back (to Merritt),” added Hess.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, with all COVID-19 restrictions lifted. The only thing needed currently is proof of vaccine as required by the Province of B.C.
