During an information meeting Thursday night, Greg Solecki, Recovery Manager for the City of Merritt confirmed that 24/7 security would be starting today for the flood effected areas of town.
“We’ve heard about the safety and security issues. Starting (Friday) morning we will have 24/7 security monitoring the community,” said Solecki.
On Wednesday, RCMP Sgt. Josh Roda had mentioned that through talks with his counterpart in Princeton, he learned that that community had received provincial funding for security protection.
“We reached out to Princeton and learned that they had received funding for 24/7 security through the province, and i believe the province is now going to support security in phase four of the city,” said Roda.
The 24/7 security begins at 8:00 am this morning.
