City and NVIT partnering in new training opportunity

The City of Merritt and the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology are partnering to bring a new training opportunity to the community. The Workplace Skills Training Program is free for participants through the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.
Participants must preregister through NVIT by February 28th as space is limited.
The Workplace Skills Training Program will be delivered over 5-weeks on Friday mornings from March 4, 2022 to April 1, 2022 at the NVIT Campus.
“It is great to work in partnership with the City of Merritt to provide front line workers with the opportunity to enhance their skills and increase their employability which will help to sustain businesses in our community” states Jennifer Lisle, Student Transitions Advisor at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology.
The training will cover topics such as Communication Skills, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Customer Service, and more. This program is ideal for workers who are either entering the workforce or transitioning into a workplace where these skills are essential to help achieve job success.
“We are so fortunate to have an educational institution like NVIT that brings high quality training programs to our community,” states Stephanie Moore, Economic Recovery Advisor for the City of Merritt.
The need for this type of skills training was identified in the Thriving Communities Labour Market Report which was released in February 2020.
