Merritt Rotary Club fundraiser eclipses $600,000

The generosity of Merritt residents and those from around Canada continues to pour in as the Merritt Rotary Club announces their fundraiser has surged past the $600,000 mark.
โWeโre at $625,000 and we have more money promised. So we can probably safely say $650,000,โ said Rotary President Leslee Lucy. โWeโve written 100 cheques so far.โ
The Rotary Club of Merritt is registered as a charitable organization with the Canada Revenue Agency. This registration designates the Society as a Qualified Donee for organizations that require this designation as a basis for providing donations. It also allows us to provide tax receipts for those donating to the fund.
โWhen we get to the end of this particular initiative and have more money. We will make an announcement on how weโre going to deliver those services,โ added Leslee.
So far 100 cheques have been written to those impacted by the floods. Leslee did confirm that not all the cheques have been picked up and residents still waiting should inquire to see if their cheque is ready.
Donations can be made by cheque to the Merritt Rotary Club Society at PO Box 938 Merritt, BC V1K 1B8 Or by e-transfer to connect@rotarymerritt.com
Those in need of assistance can fill out a form on the clubs website. (https://www.rotarymerritt.com/)
