Environment Canada warning of frostbite risk

As temperatures in the Nicola Valley continue to sit in the minus-twenties, with wind chills pushing the values further towards thirty, Environment Canada is warning of potential frostbite exposure.
โCover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill,โ reads a release from the agency.
Locally, Stacey Krajci joined Q101 to discuss the risk of frostbite to residents in Merritt this week.
โFrostbite is almost like having a burn. It has different levels, from first degree to fourth degree frostbite. First degree you may have tingling, red skin, swelling, but no blisters. Then it can go all the way up to a forth degree frostbite that can actually change the colour of your skin, blister, and you can get joint pain. It can be quite severe and quite serious,โ said Krajci.
She added that any wind can make a huge difference to the frostbite risk, and residents should ensure they are well bundled up when venturing out.
