Empty Keg using empty beer kettles to boil water for residents
The Empty Keg Brew House in Merritt is utilizing their empty beer kettles for good, as Owners Kelly and Kyle Hall announce they’re switching from brews to water to help evacuees returning home.
“We are a small city but one that looks after our own in times of need,” said Hall.
With their beer kettles laying empty, the team came up with the idea to boil vast quantities of water for Merritt residents who remain under a boil-water advisory. The kettles hold 700 liters each and the water inside will be given out for free starting December 1 at 3pm.
“People can get their containers filled to help ease the burden of the water situation in Merritt at this time,” added Hall.
The Brew House is also planning to donate $1 from every beer made on-site to flood victims throughout the month of December.
“These are the same people that supported us during our struggle to make ends meet when the shutdowns occurred. We owe them!” said Hall. “Ours is but a small way that we can help those in need and we, as a community, can once again rise as a city of strong families and friends.”
