The People’s Party of Canada debuted on the Federal stage in 2019, failing to win a single seat in the House of Commons.
In Central Okanagan Similkameen Nicola, the PPC candidate Alan Duncan finished in fifth place receiving 1,345 votes (2.07%).
Kathryn McDonald will be running under the purple banner this year and joined Q101 News to discuss why she believes the PPC is the right party for all of Canada.
“I got involved with the People’s Party when I first heard about them in 2019. I heard the party was looking for candidates in all sorts of ridings. I wanted to make sure that people could vote for change and have another option on the ballot,” said McDonald.
“I like what the party represents and stands for. They stand for the people, and for freedom, they stand for the protection of your charter rights and freedoms,” added McDonald. “We are the only party opposed to mandatory vaccinations and lockdowns.”
Before jumping into the political scene McDonald worked as a legal assistant.
“I’ve been working as a legal assistant for the past twelve years. I was working for a Washington State lawyer. As a result of COVID, business wasn’t so good for us. Our specialty was helping Canadians who drive across the border. If they get injured they would look for a Canadian lawyer that handles Washington law,” said McDonald.
With issues around COVID lockdowns and proof of vaccination swirling, the PPC could be poised for a better performance on Monday night.
“I’m here to represent you the people of Merritt and have a voice for you in Ottawa,” concluded Kathryn.
