No growth on southeast side of Lytton fire

The BC Wildfire Service is reporting no growth on the southeast side of the Lytton wildfire.
โNo significant growth has been observed on the southeast side of the fire which remains approximately 3km west of highway 97C. Crews continue to build guards along the south and southeast flanks of the fire. That work will continue in the coming days to protect the highway and communities to the southeast. Helicopters will be bucketing on hot spots and more heavy machinery will be moved to the area today to help with the guard building efforts. Structural protection work continues in Nooaitch and priorities identified for protection along Highway 97C,โ reads the file.
Limited fire activity was recorded across the entire 84,327 hectare blaze over the past couple days.
โYesterday, a return to warm dry weather saw a slight increase in fire activity in the complex over the afternoon but no significant growth on any of the four fires. Fuels are drying out quickly and fire activity is expected to increase as the warm weather continues today. Rain and cooler temperatures are forecasted for Saturday evening and Sunday,โ continues the file.
Due to the ongoing Lytton Fire, the City of Merritt remains under evacuation alert. The TNRDโs evacuation alerts and orders also remain in place as of Thursday afternoon.
