Merritt City Councillor Mike Bhangu has spoken to Q101 News regarding the uttering threats charge against him.
“The allegations are coming from an uninvited individual who came to my home, placed my safety in question by virtue of being there, and had a problem with me asking him to leave my property. The allegations are untrue, period,” stated Bhangu.
Bhangu made the brief statement one day after news broke of him being charged with one count of uttering threats.
The Merritt RCMP confirmed Bhangu was charged on August 16, following ‘a thorough investigation’.
Bhangu is scheduled to appear before the Merritt Law Courts on September 14, 2021.
Pending the result of the charge, Bhangu remains a City Councillor.
