The BC Wildfire Service is reporting that the July Mountain blaze has grown from 1,267 hectares earlier this week to 1,870. The fire remains classified as out of control, and due to heavy smoke in the area, better mapping may reveal yet another increase.
“The fire remains within one kilometer of Highway 5 (the Coquihalla) and extremely visible from Highway 5 but is not immediately threatening,” reads the update. “The fire continues to grow to the west.”
Due to the lightning caused fire, 25 properties in the TNRD remain on evacuation order.
On Thursday, 30 firefighters were on site, assisted by three helicopters.
The Brenda Creek wildfire also remains listed as out of control, however no growth has been reported on the fire this week. It remains at 824 hectares.
On Thursday, 34 firefighters were on scene, supported by three helicopters.
The Spius Creek fire is at seven hectares.
