Provincial regulations limits graduation ceremonies

For a second year in a row, Merritt Secondary School is gearing up for a COVID altered grad ceremony. Last year MSS staff went to every student’s house over the course of a week to hand deliver diplomas. This year, a small commencement will take place at MSS on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Prior to the grad festivities the Province has distributed new regulations.
“New this year, the Ministry of Education has provided new guidelines,” said SD58 Assistant Superintendent Jameel Aziz. “We’re following the Ministry guidelines to the letter. For example, only four adults can go through commencement with the graduate, that is a little bit more restrictive than we had last year.”
To help with the limited number of spectators allowed, MSS will be live streaming their ceremony so family and friends can watch from the comfort of their homes.
The festivities are split by last name.
