As the province of BC begins to loosen COVID-19 restrictions, travel and tourism will be looking to quickly rebound from over a year of limited movement.
“We’ll be following the restrictions that are in place and the new announcement from the province. We’ve been receiving calls from different stakeholders and working with TOTA and Destination BC to ensure when its safe to travel, visitors do so,” said Merritt Tourism Manger Will George.
George mentioned how the City has been working to highlight the Nicola Valleys outdoor activities.
“Showcasing all the mountain bike opportunities, fishing, camping, those outdoor recreation opportunities to allow visitors to explore the Nicola Valley,” added George.
Provincial travel restrictions are still in effect until the province moves into stage-2 of the restart plan.
“Right now, we’re still staying with dream now, visit later. Really trying to inspire people for when they feel safe travelling and restrictions ease. Making sure that inspirational messaging is out there,” said George.
George stated that the City is ready to pivot when the restrictions are eased to begin welcoming visitors back to the Valley.
