Dr. Bonnie Henry has announced that British Columbia is moving up second doses of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines (Moderna/Pfizer) to eight weeks from 16.
BC like many provinces pushed back second doses to provide a single dose to a larger percentage of the population.
Due to supply issues, Dr. Henry did state that those who received a Moderna shot may be offered a Pfizer vaccine for shot two.
“If offered a Pfizer vaccine as a second dose I encourage you to accept it,” said Dr. Henry.
Canada is expected to receive more Moderna deliveries in mid-June.
Those who received an AstraZeneca vaccine will be able to choose whether they want to receive a second dose of AZ or an mRNA vaccine.
Already close to 400,000 British Columbians aged 70+ or clinically vulnerable, are being contacted through the get vaccinated system to book their second dose.
