Roger Sloan was in a bad spot after round one at the Wells Fargo Championship this weekend.
The Merrittonain PGA Tour Pro shot 5-over par (76) on Thursday and was staring down a fourth consecutive missed cut. But an impressive rebound on Friday means not only will Sloan make the cut, but he’s in contention for top-20 finish.
The comeback effort started early for Sloan who drained a birdie on the par-4 3rd hole, he would proceed to rattle off four more birdies before making the turn.
Sloan would slow down on the back nine, carding three birdies and one bogey to finish the round at 7-under par (64).
The great day moved the Merrittonain up 119 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 19th at 2-under par.
The leaders are at 7-under as of 11:00 am Friday.
Sloan also now the top Canadian in the field which includes Nick Taylor, Corey Connors, Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Hadwin, Michael Gligic, and David Hearn.
