Merritt City Council has approved a resolution to support an agricultural land reserve exclusion for the property at Gateway 286, the old visitor centre.
“The subject property is the site of the former visitor information centre, southeast of the Coquihalla Exit 286 interchange. Approximately 82% of the subject property is currently located within the ALR. The area of the parcel being proposed for ALR Exclusion is 9.54 hectares of the 11.6 hectare property,” wrote Planning Manager Don McArthur.
“Spayum intends to submit a rezoning application which would enable the construction of commercial and institutional buildings, including an interpretive centre,” added McArthur.
Merrittonains can get an early idea of the plans for the property tonight (April 27) during a committee of the whole meeting at 6 pm.
