Merritt Mounties called to bomb threat on Tuesday
The Merritt Mounties have arrested a suspect following a bomb threat in the downtown core yesterday (March 23).
Spring Bank Development approved at reduced R7 medium density
Merritt City Council has approved the third reading of the proposed Spring Bank Development following a public hearing. The third reading was approved by a 4-3 vote. Councillors Melvina White, Mike Bhangu, and Adam Etchart were in opposition.
Interior Health takes over Merritt’s The Florentine after ‘ongoing challenges’
Interior Health (IH) says it is taking over day-to-day operations of a Merritt long-term care home that recently cleared a COVID-19 outbreak.In a news release, IH says its Board of Directors has appointed an administrator for The Florentine. Matt Renfrew manages the IH-operated Overlander Residential Care home in Kamloops and will be redeployed to The Florentine.
BC Coroner announces 155 illicit drug deaths in February 2021
Figures released by the British Columbia Coroners Service identify 155 suspected illicit drug toxicity deaths in February, the 11th consecutive month in which the province has recorded more than 100 lives lost.
