Merritt Mounties called to bomb threat on Tuesday
The Merritt Mounties have arrested a suspect following a bomb threat in the downtown core yesterday (March 23).
“On March 23, 2021, the Merritt RCMP attended to a business at the intersection of Voght Street and Nicola Avenue in for a report of a bomb threat. Front line officers attended, cleared the store and launched a criminal investigation. No explosive device was located during a search of the building,” said Sergeant Josh Roda.
Through the investigation, police took a female suspect into custody.
“The woman taken into police custody has also been identified as a possible suspect for multiple shoplifting incidents, over the past week, around the Merritt area,” added Roda.
The suspect was identified as a 35-year old Merritt woman.
The full findings of each of the concurrent criminal investigations will be forwarded to the BC Proseuction Service for charge assessment. She is set to appear before the courts on July 20, 2021,” concluded Roda.
