City Council hosting town hall meeting
Merritt City Council is holding a virtual town hall meeting tomorrow (Thursday March 18).
“Since this council was elected in 2018 we continue to hear from residents that there’s a need for more growth and development in Merritt,” said Mayor Linda Brown. “Residents have shared their experiences with housing that costs too much and its also difficult to find. They have also expressed their desire for more business and job opportunities.”
“Now that development is at our doorstep we’ve heard from many residents that they’re concerned about how development will affect their neighbourhood,” added Brown. “As a community we need to talk, we need to have conversations about density, attracting business and industry, more housing availability, how to fund infrastructure, property taxes, and service levels.”
The meeting is scheduled to start at 6 pm Thursday. City Hall has not yet provided details on how to join the conversation.
