KAMLOOPS — A new wildfire has sprung up near Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge.
At last report it was 4 hectares in size. It is located near the Dot Ranch Cutoff Road. No cause for the fire yet.It was reported Sunday (14th)
Meanwhile, a small fire on the north side of Shuswap Road near the exit from the Trans Canada Highway onto Highway 97 has been held at 0.3 hectares. It is believed to have been person caused and was reported Saturday, March 13th.
Also in the Kamloops Fire Centre, there’s a small blaze burning just east of Penticton.
Officials say while it may seem a bit early to some, the grasslands dry out quickly when the warmer weather starts to hit, and it’s never to early to be careful with fire.
