Positive COVID-19 case confirmed at Nicola-Canford Elementary

School District 58 Nicola-Similkameen has confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 within the community at Nicola-Canford Elementary School.

The exposure is stated to have occurred on January 25, 2021.

“The safety and well-being of our students, families, and staff remains our highest priority. Please be reassured that Nicola-Canford Elementary will continue to implement the strict protocols and procedures we have in place so that children can continue to attend school as safely as possible,” writes Superintendent Steve McNiven.

The positive case follows one confirmed case at Merritt Bench Elementary and four cases at Merritt Secondary School all since the beginning of 2021.

The Interior Health Authority will be conducting the contact tracing for the new case and will contact anybody in the community who needs to self-isolate.
