The BC Centre for Disease Control has released the latest Merritt specific COVID-19 data, covering the week of January 17-23.
The CDC reports 15 new cases of the virus were confirmed in the area last week, following previous weeks of 15 and 10 cases in January.
Already in the first three weeks of January, the Merritt area has surpassed the number of cases confirmed in all of 2020. There were 39 cases last year, and 40 have been confirmed in January.
The Merritt area has been dealing with a few cases in schools, but that only represents 12.5 per cent of the total cases seen this year.
For comparison, Kamloops recorded 124 cases, while Kelowna saw 65.
