New COVID case in Upper Nicola
The Upper Nicola Band has confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 within its community.
The announcement follows two positive cases that were confirmed on January 14.
Chief Harvey McLeod announced the new positive case in a video update to the band on Friday (Jan 22).
“In the past week, we’ve had one more case of COVID-19 into our community,” said McLeod. “The individual has been in contact with the band and is in self-isolation. The individual did not have any contact with anybody inside the community.”
“We have a number of individuals, manly our elders, who are not feeling so well, they are having a tough time like all of us. Isolation isn’t an easy process and it impacts us all in many different ways. I ask that you reach out to your families, be there for them,” added McLeod.
The Interior Health Authority will be conducting contact tracing for the case and will contact anybody who needs to self-isolate.
