The BC Centre of Disease Control has released the latest Merritt specific COVID-19 data, announcing a record weekly increase of 15 new cases of the virus.
The latest figures cover the week of January 10-16, 2021.
It’s the second week in a row that a weekly increase record has been set in the area following ten new cases last week.
Already in January 25 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the region by health officials, compared to just 12 cases in all of December.
For comparison, the Kamloops area saw 97 new cases last week, while Kelowna registered 139.
