Merritt Records Nine New COVID-19 Cases

The BC Centre for Disease Control has updated its community-specific COVID-19 data for the week of December 27 – January 2.
The Merritt area recorded a weekly record of nine new cases over the seven-day span. The influx of new cases follows just three cases over the entire month of December leading up to the 27th.
The spike also increased the total number of cases in the Merritt area to 43.
Kamloops recorded 68 new cases, while the area encompassing Kelowna registered 139 cases last week.
Overall, there are currently 785 active cases of the virus in the Interior Health Authority with 33 people in the hospital and nine in the ICU.
