Algae bloom detected in another area lake.
With alage blooms already confirmed at both Douglas and Chapperon Lake, general manager of the BC Cattlemens Association Kevin Boon says three cattle have died after drinking from Tunkwa Lake.
“There has been a couple of deaths, some losses, of cattle in the area. This is not new this is something we see almost on an annual basis where we can see some sick cattle from it. It usually happens when we see these hot summer days. This is about the time of year when it grows.”
Boon says impacted ranchers have blocked off access to the lake for their cattle.
BC Parks has posted a warning to visitors of the provincial park to avoid swimming in Tunkwa Lake and to keep their pets from drinking the water.
