The City of Merritt is in the process of building what's known as the Southeast Reservoir, a project conceived about four years ago.

Mayor Susan Roline says under the terms of a "build Canada fund" grant it has to be complete by the end of March 2011.

Roline says that sector will help to serve the 286 Project, but there'll still be a need for another reservoir down the road when the development actually goes in.

The Mayor clarified that it's the water line going into the area at present, with no work at all being done on sewer lines.
