Nicola Valley Institute of Technology's Immediate Entry Secondary School Transition Bursary boosting number of Merritt Secondary School students taking classes this fall.
President Ken Tourand confirms 27 MSS students will qualify for it this fall, increasing the average number from years past by nearly 60%.
"It really wasn't about NVIT increasing our student numbers, it was really just about the opportunity to give students in Merritt and the School District 58 region an extra push to come to NVIT."
The bursary covers first-year tuition for Grade 12 graduates from School District 58 and is designed to increase immediate transition rates in the Nicola-Similkameen region, where the percentage of students immediately entering post secondary right after high school is the lowest in the province.
It will continue to be offered for the next two years.
