A massive wildfire has sparked along the Okanagan Connector.
The fire is burning roughly 24km west of West Kelowna, about 8km north of Hwy 97C near Gottfriedson Mountain.
According to the BC Wildfire Service the fire sparked yesterday afternoon and has grown to 400 hectares in size.
It is burning Rank 3 to 5, meaning it is a vigorous surface fire that is extending to tree tops.
As a result, an Evacuation Alert has been issued by the TNRD for Area M.
It covers all properties and camping areas north of Hwy 97C, as well as Pennask, Mellin, Barton and Eileen Lake.
The fire is believed to have been caused by lightning.
