Nicola Lake Canoe Pull returning this summer.

Cancelled last year due to the record setting wildfire season, Merritt RCMP Cst Tracy Dunsmore confirms the event will be staged a fourth time, July 23rd to the 25th.

The goal of the event is to build positive community relationships with the RCMP and the surrounding aboriginal communities, organizations, and the youth.

"We've had more youth coming out every year. And, someone of them are coming back, so they are more familiar with rowing, and the techniques, and protocol that goes along with it. It's fun to see that, and then the younger kids come out and see that as well."

Youth, between the ages of 12 and 18 from all five Nicola Valley First Nations bands are expected to take part.

As many as 90 youth have participated in past years.
