City of Merritt Councillor denied request for independent staff satisfaction survey.
The results of the closed meeting vote back on January 9th have been released, and only Councillor Linda Brown voted for paying up to $30,000 to conduct the internal survey.
Brown made the motion back in December, concerned about the effect extensive turnover of city managers has had on staff.
"City Hall has gone through an extraorindary number of senior and midmanagement staff turnovers over the past number of years. There is a concern regarding low staff morale, resulting in low staff productivity and numerous projects not being completed. Costs for HR-related issues on recruitment and retention have gone up for the city."
Every department head working for the city has changed at least once since 2014.
