The City of Merritt is warning hotels and taxi companies that drug activity won't be tolerated.
A letter penned by the city's Police Committee has been sent to every hotel and taxi company in Merritt, in an effort to curb alleged drug activity.
The letter, written by Mayor Neil Menard, asks that owners increase their efforts to ensure their business is not knowingly or unknowingly being used to expedite the sale of drugs.
If become aware of any illegal activity, they are asked to notify the RCMP immediately.
Should that not happen, Menard warns the City of Merritt will take more stringent measures like taking away business licences, or charging for service calls.
