36 Merritt residents set to challenge 2018 housing assessments.
It's down slightly from the 37 challenges heard in 2017.
Deputy Assessor for BC Assessment Graham Held says the challenges will be heard by the Property Assessment Review panel starting next week.
"In some cases, we can still avoid the hearing, but we still need to get the changes on the revised Tax Roll. That is what gets published at the end of March. It's that revised roll that the taxing jurisdictions, like the City of Merritt, will use to set their tax rates, so they can complete budgets for the upcoming year."
The assessed value of the average home in Merritt increased by 6.16% in 2018, to $268,000.
