Minimum wage set to eclipse $15 an hour in BC by 2021.
Premier John Horgan announcing yesterday the first increase will happen this June, bumping minimum wage to $12.65 an hour, from the current $11.35.
"With another increase the following June, and a further increase the June after that, until we realize $15.20 in June of 2021."
Horgan says he made the decision after reviewing the recommendations of the Fair Wage Commission.
The current $11.35 an hour ranks 5th in Canada, trailing Ontario, Alberta, The Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
