With the BC Visitor Centre at Exit 286 officially closing today, the City of Merritt is still is still deciding on a new tourism information strategy.
Tourism Manager Will George indicates the city is considering a number of physical options, including a trailer that can be moved to different locations.
"Last year was the first year Tourism Merritt and the Tourism Ambassadors were out at the large events taking place, like Bass Coast and Rockin' River. The plan is to continue to be out at different events, and be more mobile, with more of a branding base."
In the short term, the Baillie House will serve as the primary physical location in Merritt to get visitor information.
The Tourism Merritt website will continue to provide information for those searching online.
