New Loon Lake rest stop expected to open in the coming weeks.
Ministry of Transportation District Manager Trent Folk says the new rest area on Hwy 97C is on track to open before the end of the year.
"Minor finishing touches that crews are working on now, and then electrifrication from BC Hydro. Hoping to have it up within the next month or so and available to the motoring public."
Folk says the new Loon Lake rest area will provide a safe, and convenient place for the commercial trucking industry and tourists to stop and rest along the Okanagan Connector.
In additon to running water and flushing washrooms, it will offer separate parking areas for passenger vehicles and large commercial traffic, WIFI, and support the potential future development of car charging stations.
