Water licenses in the Coldwater watershed unlikely to be suspended.
Valerie Cameron with the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations says most water licenses run out at the end of the month, so unless conditions deteriorate exponentially in the coming days, the province will not be taking further action through the Water Stewardship Act.
"Even if people do have irrigation licenses, and there is water in the stream, in almost all cases the licensees end on September 30th. There is very little we can do after that with respect to managing irrigating after September 30th, and with us nearly half way through the month already, it should remain status-quo."
The Coldwater watershed continues to sit at Drought Level 4, with the province asking for maximum voluntary reduction of withdrawals to protect fish populations.
