Couple stepping up big time for Nicola Valley and District Food Bank this summer.
Randy Paton says the decision by him and his wife Vicky to grow fresh vegetables for the food bank at a vacant lot on Clapperton Ave this summer has already resulted in nearly 2,000lbs of fresh vegetables being donated to those in need.
And he's hoping a couple hundred more pounds can still be harvested before the frost.
"I'm going to say two more weeks for sure. Hopefull we can get another three harvests if we are lucky."
Paton says he's not sure at this time whether they will be able to garden at the site again next summer, but isn't ruling out another location at this point.
He does say however, it would be on a smaller scale due to the lack of volunteers this summer.
