Drought Level continues to climb in Nicola Valley.
"It's now official, the province has us at Drought Level 3 on both the Coldwater and Nicola River."
Despite the rain this weekend, Senior Water Authorization Specialist for the Cascades District Patrick Farmer says conditions are still getting worse, and the voluntary 30% reduction put in place this week for all water license holders and users of the Coldwater River, could change to mandatory soon.
"As both rivers continue to drop, we will be keeping an eye on how much an effect the voluntary action is helping us. But, if it keeps dropping, and we get to Drought Level 4, the province will need to take further action."
Temperatures are expected to be cooler the next week in the Merritt area, but with no precipitation in the 7-day forecast, the drought level is not expected to improve.
