Nicola Valley Hospital Emergency Department closed to begin the week

The Nicola Valley Hospital’s emergency room will be closed for 25-hours beginning at 7:00 am Monday, Aug. 31 and reopen again at 8:00 am on Tuesday Sept. 1.

Interior Health issued the alert on Sunday night, marking the ninth hospital closure in the region this year. It is the fourth closure in August with the last on August 8.

No definitive reason was given for the closure as per Interior Health’s notice of the closure, however staffing is believed to be the reason.

Patients requiring emergency care during the closure are being directed to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
